HOW TO FISH
Casting. Point the reticle where a fish is lying — watch for dark shapes and rings on the water.
Press and hold mouse to load the rod; the meter climbs and falls. Release near the
white line for a long, straight cast. A clumsy cast lands off the mark — and a heavy splash
will put every fish down.
The drift. Your fly rides the current downstream. When a fish tips up and sips it, you'll hear the
rise — strike at once with a click. Too slow and he's spat it out. Press R
to lift off and recast.
The fight. Hold mouse to gain line; ease off when he runs. Keep the tension needle in the
green band — too tight and the tippet parts, too slack and the hook falls out. Split cane is
forgiving; the finer the rod, the wider your margin.
The tackle. Fish earn guineas for the purse. Sea trout ask for a weight-forward silk; the salmon in the
far pool will only be turned by the Salmon DT and a proper full-dressed fly. Match the hatch:
grayling adore Kite's Imperial, big browns lose their heads over the Mayfly.
