About the game

Rainy Day Rescue invites you into three living picture-book worlds. In Puddleton, Willow Woods and Little Lantern Bay, the player explores the scene and wakes its little inhabitants, gradually bringing the sunshine back.

The game makes the illustration the place to play. Move around the picture, investigate a character or object and follow the small interactions. Each setting has a different mood, from a rainy town to woodland and a harbour.

Inside the build

How Rainy Day Rescue was made

The current v2 build combines the world paintings with interactive objects positioned inside them. The game’s camera can move over the artwork, letting one illustration contain several discoveries rather than acting as a fixed background.

A shared interaction system tracks discoveries in each world and coordinates the transition from rain to sunshine. Scene names, objects, sound and prompts work together to make the result read like a picture book that responds to touch.

The three settings keep their own identity while sharing the same controls. This is an example of how an illustrated world can become a game without needing a conventional platforming course or a combat system.
