About the game

Noodles, Cake & Elf puts an unlikely cast into a full 3D fighting game. Choose Cake, Slim Cake, Elf or Noodles, pick an opponent and fight a best-of-three match against the computer or a second person at the keyboard.

The fighters occupy a three-dimensional scene in front of painted backdrops. Jumps, low attacks, dashes and special moves give the match more to it than trading punches. The title screen runs an attract fight before you enter the selection screen.

  • Four 3D fighters
  • CPU or local two-player matches
  • Special moves, supers and aerial combos

Inside the build

How Noodles, Cake & Elf was made

This version is the Three.js rebuild of an earlier sprite-based fighter. It keeps the painted stages and develops the characters as animated 3D models. A pitched camera and contact shadows place their feet in the scene rather than making the fighters appear to float above it.

Noodles uses a model shared with the surfing project. Animation clips were retargeted onto the rig, and the game combines those clips with a real vertical movement axis for jumping, launching and juggling. An input buffer and a jab-to-hook-to-special cancel sequence give the controls a consistent rhythm.

Recorded character lines, music selection and round announcements complete the presentation. This page uses the current four-character 3D edition, so its roster and controls differ from the older 2D build.
