About the game

Golden Hour is a surfing game in which the waves keep moving whether you catch them or not. Wait in the lineup, paddle into a set, angle the takeoff and keep your speed along the breaking wave.

Wave position matters. The deepest surfer owns the wave, and dropping in costs points. You can pump for speed, carve, duck dive below the surface or kick out over the back. The break selection gives each session a different setting.

  • Waves that break without the player
  • Touch controls and phone quality settings
  • Surfers, boards and a scored soundtrack

How to play Golden Hour — World Surf

Inside the build

How Golden Hour — World Surf was made

The current v17 project separates the game shell, movement code, 3D models and soundtrack into files. The loader streams the boards and riders before offering PADDLE OUT, making progress visible instead of leaving a blank screen while a large file loads.

The ocean is geometry and motion, with swell lines forming into sets, standing up at a peak and breaking down the line. Foam stays attached to the water, and going underwater reveals another part of the scene.

A lighter graphics tier reduces ocean detail, shadows and effects on touch devices. The adaptive resolution setting helps the game respond to slower hardware. These choices are part of making a Three.js game practical on a phone.
